DIY Fabric Ornaments

A fun project for the whole family whether you’re stuck inside during the week or trying to get the most out of the holidays during the weekends. You might need to make a dash to your local dollar or discount store or use some ornaments that are a little worse for wear. You can easily make these fabric ornaments in a matter of minutes, and as a bonus, you don’t even need to break out your sewing machine! 

Children will undoubtedly love helping with this craft, and they can do a great job too because it’s so simple! 

Materials and Step-by-Step Instructions

With this materials list, you can get quite creative. Don’t worry about having just the right items on hand. Instead, think outside the box if you need to substitute or replace some of these materials. 

• Stuffing/fluff 
• Thin fabric - linen fabric is a top choice, but you can certainly get into your stash or even use the discounted excess or scraps from your fabric store! 
• Twine or ribbon 
• Ornament hook
• Hot glue and jewels - optional

Now you’re ready to get going:

1. Cut the thin fabric into the shape you want. This could be in the shape of snowmen, christmas trees, mittens, etc. 
2. Bundle the stuffing in the fabric pulling the excess fabric to the top of the ornament. 
3. Secure the fabric with the hot glue
4. Hot glue the sides together and decorate to your liking.
5. Tie a strip of twine over the top of the ornament
6. Tie the ribbon into a bow or use your hot glue gun to create a bow 
7. Hot glue the ribbon onto the front of the ornament over the twine 
8. Loop the ornament hook onto the ornament (you might need to sift through the fabric, but you can get to it!)
9. Hang on your tree!
