DIY Cozy Socks Materials

This craft is easy to complete and is great for sewing machine beginners. The materials you’ll need for this project include:

• The fabric of your choice (preferably with around 50% stretch)

• Fabric scissors

• Sewing machine

• Sewing machine accessories (needle, thread, pins)

• Sewing pattern

If your sewing machine has a special stretch stitch, it is recommended to use this stitch for this craft. However, the zigzag stitch should also work fine as long as you take it slow to avoid any unwanted stretching of your fabric.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Grab your sewing pattern and follow it to cut your fabric to the size you prefer. Your pattern should allow for multiple size options based on your shoe size.

Once you’ve finished cutting out your pieces from the pattern, you should have two longer tombstone-shaped pieces, two shorter tombstone-shaped pieces, two medium-sized oval pieces, and two rectangular pieces.

Place the oval pieces one over the other with outsides facing each other, and stitch between the notches on either side using your sewing machine. Be careful not to stretch the fabric as you sew around the curve. Pull right side out and set this piece aside.

Place the longer tombstone-shaped pieces on top of each other outside in. Sew around the edges, but leave the straight edge unstitched. Turn right side out and set this aside.

Put the rectangular pieces right sides together and fold in half twice. Sew along the short edges and fold again to create the tube of the sock. Divide the tube part in half and mark the opposite side with a pin.

Then, put the tube pieces inside the main sock pieces, wrong sides out, and align the seams.

With your sewing machine, stitch around the opening of each sock, moving slowly to avoid stretching the fabric.
